Whoa, where do I even start? So, Assetto Corsa EVO kind of stumbled out of the gate earlier this year. I mean, people were psyched for the PC VR mode, but let’s just say it was… less than perfect. The optimization was like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Can you picture that? Anyway — KUNOS Simulazioni just rolled out this new update, version 0.2, and it’s packing a punch.
So, here’s the lowdown: you’ve got seven slick new rides — ever heard of the Maserati GT2 or the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6? Yeah, those. Plus, two new tracks, Circuit of the Americas and Donington Park. Imagine tearing down those in a virtual world. Wild, right?
And here’s something fun: the game tossed in an ‘Open Mode’ where you get to drive any car, like, no questions asked. And, drumroll, a Career Mode too, which means you’re basically in for an economy and progression ride. Not that I know what that exactly means, but sounds intense!
The VR bit? Oh yeah, “step two” or whatever they’re calling it. Everything’s supposed to run smoother now. There’s this VR TV camera set, and reflections level up — who knew reflections mattered so much? DLSS is in there too; not gonna lie, I had to Google what that was. Plus, there’s this new grass type. If grass floats your boat, it’s a big deal, I guess.
Switching between VR and triple screen mode now doesn’t mess up DLSS settings, or so they say. I mean, less fiddling is always a win, right?
Obviously, you still need a beast of a PC to make this VR magic work, but they’re on the right track, supposedly. There’s this graphics comparison video I checked out, and honestly, I could barely tell the difference. Maybe that’s just me. ‘HYPEVR TV’ showed the old and the new side-by-side; worth a peek if you’re into that kind of thing.
Oh, and they’re dropping six more updates before it officially hits version 1.0 in Fall 2025. Plenty of time for more tweaks, right? Hey, fingers crossed it’s up to the hype by then because $32 feels steep if the VR doesn’t live up.
