Okay, so, here’s the scoop on the latest PS5 update — it’s got this beta thing going on that’s kinda interesting. I mean, maybe it’s useful, maybe it’s not. Who can say? Anyway, this update adds a widget. Yeah, a widget. But, like, don’t expect this to be widespread just yet. Only a few lucky folks are digging into it — posting all over forums and Twitter.
So, what does this widget do? Let’s break it down. Or try to. It shows stuff like:
-
Game progress. Yep, in percentages because numbers make everything cooler, right?
-
Trophy stats. Highlighting that rare trophy you got — probably by accident. Not gonna lie, we all know it.
-
Time played. Ha! Sony’s never been great with play hours, so take it with a grain of salt. Or a whole salt shaker, maybe.
-
Friends playing the same game. Because gaming alone is so last decade.
-
Screenshots taken. Including those surprise ones the PS5 snaps when you’re not paying attention. (Shoutout to trophy screenshots!)
- Number of sessions. Not sure why you’d need to know this, but hey, knowledge is power?
I have no clue why, but this whole thing reminds me of when I tried tracking my sleep… only to realize I nap in weird places.
Oh, and side note — you won’t have to download anything for this widget to show up. Magically, it just appears in that Welcome Hub area. It’s almost like it’s reading your mind — or maybe it’s just really good timing.
Who knows? Maybe this update’s what some of us have been waiting for. Or maybe we’ll just complain about it like everything else. Anyway, if you’re one of the chosen few, enjoy. If not, well, there’s always next time.
