I don’t know why I’m starting with this, but Japanese publishing tycoon Capcom just spilled the beans about raking in ¥45.5 billion (some $302.2 million, give or take) in net sales for three months up until June 30. Wild, right? That’s a crazy 53.7% leap from last year. Apparently, the whole Digital Contents section — you know, games and all that jazz — gave it a big boost. Capcom pointed fingers at titles like Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil Village. Oh, and let’s not forget the Resident Evil 4 remake and Street Fighter 6.
The weird thing is, Devil May Cry 5 suddenly got popular again, and yeah, thanks Netflix for that anime series push. As of now, it’s sitting at a colossal 10.5 million units sold. No kidding. Around 1.7 million of those flew off the shelves just last quarter. And speaking of Resident Evil Village, it’s at a whopping 12.2 million now. Resident Evil 4 isn’t doing bad either with 10.6 million. Turns out, Street Fighter 6 hit the five million mark — probably helped by the game finally dropping on Nintendo Switch 2. Go figure.
All in all, Capcom managed to ship out like 14.16 million units in this period alone. That’s a nifty 48% jump from last year’s 9.53 million copies. Meanwhile, the operating profit? Oh boy, hold onto your hats — it skyrocketed by a hefty 90.8% up to ¥24.6 billion, which is about $163.4 million. I mean, these numbers are something else, right?
