Man, okay, so here we go with some news that’ll hit home for a bunch of Genshin Impact fans — especially if you’re into playing on older gear. So, starting next month, this whole gig is gonna take a nosedive on some older devices. And yep, sorry to break it to you, but this includes the PlayStation 4. Like, seriously, they’re just straight-up stopping support for it. Bummer, right?
I mean, the developer dropped this info bomb earlier in the week. They’re also jacking up the game’s requirements across the board. Why? Beats me, but it seems like it’s all about making things shinier or whatever.
Oh, and there’s this stuff about cookies we can just gloss over. Basically, PS4’s not cutting it due to “hardware performance and platform application size” — whatever that means. PS5’s safe though, in case you were wondering.
And, wow, this isn’t just some small tweak. It’s a pretty big deal. They’re phasing it out — like, in three waves of digital doom. First off, mark September 10, ’cause that’s when you’ll see the game vanish from the PlayStation Store. If it’s in your library, you’re good to redownload, but that’s about it.
Then, February 25, 2026, rolls around — cue dramatic music — and all those in-game buys are gonna be a thing of the past. No cash shop, no top-ups, nada. You can still snag stuff you already got from the store, but no new goodies.
And finally, by August 4, 2026, we wave goodbye for good. No logging in, no updates, no nothing. PS4’s just, you know, out of the Genshin game forever.
Switching gears, they’re also upping the ante on PC and mobile requirements. If your setup’s kinda old, well, you might fire up the game, but brace yourself for lag city. Performance will probably be a mess since new content won’t be tailored for those specs. Fun times, I guess?
Now, if you really wanna be ahead of the curve, check out the official site for the new specs. They’re not impossible to hit, but you’ll need to double-check before diving in.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, update 5.8 just dropped like last week. New events, some character named Ineffa, and yep, Citlali and Mualani are back in action. Dive into those builds and team guides if you’re planning to hop back into the mix. And don’t miss our updated Genshin Impact codes page — yeah, got that covered too.
That should do it. Good luck keeping up, folks!
