The Switch 2 is about to drop a gem from the past, and I’m seriously pumped. We’re talking about Bravely Default, a game that feels like it snagged a piece of the gaming heavens. It first hit the scene on the Nintendo 3DS back in, like, 2012. Fast forward to now, with all the next-gen graphics and doodads, and here we go with a remaster.
I mean, you gotta respect a game that rocked a 10/10 when it landed in the U.S. in 2014. Thomas Jones over at Pure Nintendo got all poetic about it, saying it mixed the old-school charm of Final Fantasy with nifty new tricks. Visuals? Check. Sounds? Totally rich and cultural. Characters? A rainbow of personalities. Addictive? Like a bag of chips. Basically, it ruled and maybe still rules, or will rule again. Confusing? Probably. But stay with me.
Thing is, the 3DS eShop shut down (why do cool things disappear?) and finding a cartridge is like digging for buried treasure. Plus, StreetPass stuff got tangled up in gameplay, making it tricky. So, they’re scrapping StreetPass and tossing in fresh playthings like Luxencheer Rhythm Catch and Ringabel’s Panic Cruise. Oh, with Joy-Con mouse action. Fancy, right?
Visuals should pop on the new setup — though RIP to those 3D vistas. But if the previews are anything to go by, it’ll be eye candy galore. And the job-based battle system? Costume swaps and all? Won’t spill too much here, but it’s a blast.
This updated Switch 2 version is a golden ticket for folks who missed the first ride. And for the rest of us? A nostalgic encore. Head over to square-enix-games.com if your curiosity’s piqued. Grab the digital pre-order on the eShop for $39.99. Mark your calendars, folks. June 5th is when magic happens.
