The big Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 reveal happened today. If you’re thinking new characters, bingo! That’s what the buzz is all about with every update of this game everyone seems to love. So, what’s the scoop this time? Well, they showed off the fresh characters who’ll make their grand entrance soon in this free-to-play RPG.
Anyway, enough dancing around. The biggie is the Fate/stay night crossover event. Remember that? It got announced way back in August last year. Yeah, the same time the game finally got its official English version and shiny modern upgrade. Everyone knew this crossover was gonna take its sweet time. A whole 10 months later, here we are, almost at the finish line.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. New faces like Saber—who’s coming in as a starry 5-Star Wind/Destruction character—will grace us with her presence via a special banner. Oh, and Archer too. He’s a 5-Star Quantum/Hunt character and—get this—everyone logging in can snag him for free during the crossover. The goods stay a bit longer in the game, from Version 3.4 to 3.6. Probably around November, if you’re keeping track.
And hey, Phainon finally gets to play in the big leagues. Been seeing him since Version 3.0, and now he moves from NPC to playable. What a journey, huh? He comes in packing a punch with a Physical/Destruction kit. All these collab characters jump the usual release cycle and bam, they’re here in Phase 1.
Adding to that, there’s a mountain of rerun banners—six, to be exact—with Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle popping back in Phase 1. Then Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade roll through in Phase 2. With this loaded roster, new characters sit this one out later. Not much room to whine, really, with all that on the plate.
Now hold up, could it get better? The Stellaron Hunters—yeah, those folks—are getting some tweaks. Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Blade see improvements in battle mechanics and Eidolon effects. Firefly sports a new look, and Jingliu’s getting her own boost. Fingers crossed she stays on the good side—or maybe not. Joining the morally gray mercenaries could spice things up!
So mark your calendars, Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 drops on July 2nd. The switch to the second banner phase is set for July 23rd. Catch the full livestream replay if that’s your thing.
Oh, and before I forget—last update in May? It added Hyacine and revived The Herta. That was part of the first phase. The second phase kicked off recently with Cipher and some returning stars getting their spotlight.
But, oh man, the voice actor drama! They replaced the English voices for the main characters—Stelle and Caelus—due to the actors supporting the SAG-AFTRA strike. It’s a whole thing. Some characters still hang in the balance. What a world, huh?
