Late last year, Sightful did a thing—kind of a wild pivot, really. They were all about this fancy laptop with AR glasses built right in, but then, bam! Canceled it. Just like that. Now, they’re launching Spacetop for Windows, which transforms your space into some kinda private virtual screen for getting stuff done on the move.
Their previous gadget was a bit out there, you wore it with XREAL AR glasses. Cool, right? Now, their subscription deal with Spacetop is for a bigger gang of AI-tweaked PCs. Think Dell, HP, Lenovo, those guys.
Originally, they were diving into some ‘headless’ laptop territory with SpaceOS (who names these things?!)—but last October, the plug was pulled. Everyone got their cash back for the Spacetop G1, which was gonna set folks back $1,900. Not pocket change! Something about how those neural processing units—sounds pretty sci-fi—could supercharge processing and battery mojo with AR apps.
And now, there’s this Spacetop Bundle at $899. Comes with those XREAL Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (normally $699 on their own!) and a 12-month pass to Spacetop shenanigans. Renew it yearly for $200. Oh, and if you need optical lenses, they’ve got those too—$50 for single-vision, $150 for the progressive ones. Why not just tape your glasses to the screen… don’t actually do that.
Laptops they like include stuff like Dell XPS Core Ultra 7 (fancy, eh?), HP Elitebook, Lenovo Yoga Slim, and more. But there’s a ton, really, anything with Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processors will do the trick, apparently. The tech parade marches on!
What’s this thing got? Think seamless app access, and you can push, slide, spin your workspace like a DJ with a new deck. Got a travel mode for when you’re, I dunno, Ubering or plane-hopping. The display! Bright enough for a sunlit brunch or a gloomy basement. And it’s ergonomic too—no more bending your neck like you’re a giraffe trying to read in bed.
Anyway—wait—backed by a whopping $61M in funding, Sightful kicked off in 2020. Some serious pedigree here, with folks from PrimeSense, Magic Leap, and Broadcom. They’re doing their thing in Tel Aviv, Palo Alto, and even New York (global domination, I guess?). Snag more info on their virtual shenanigans with Spacetop for Windows if you’re curious.
