Yuji Horii’s got this amazing knack for letting secrets slip. Seriously, it’s almost like his special talent or something.
Okay, so picture this: you’re hanging out at some comic con in Napoli, Italy. There’s this panel, right? And Yuji Horii, the guy from the Dragon Quest series, is there. People are buzzing about Chrono Trigger – you know, that legendary RPG? Anyway, Horii goes and blurts out something about a remake for its 30th anniversary. Totally casual. But then, oops! When asked to repeat, he covers his mouth. Classic move. The translator chimes in with a cheeky “you heard nothing,” and everyone just loses it. Cheering all around.
And, oh man, this isn’t Horii’s first rodeo with accidental reveals. Like back in July 2015, he was just dropping info left and right. He let it slip about localizations for Dragon Quest VII and VIII on the 3DS. Mind you, the first one had been out in Japan forever. And right at the month’s close, he spills that Dragon Quest XI’s gonna hit the “NX” – which we now call the Switch. Even when it was supposed to be a PS4 and 3DS thing. Classic Horii again.
Fast forward to March 11, the day Chrono Trigger first rocked Japan, and Square Enix says they’ll celebrate in a big way. But nope, no juicy details yet.
So, is a remake coming? Who knows, but with Horii, anything’s possible.
