Hunter Schafer being lined up for Princess Zelda? Yeah, that’s a thing now. The interwebs are buzzing because apparently, bringing fantasies to life is the new norm. Why do people care so much? Maybe because The Legend of Zelda’s been a part of our childhoods since… forever. Like, 1986 forever. And now, bam! Live-action. Shooting starts in New Zealand this year, aiming to hit the big screen in 2027. I mean, who plans this far ahead? Hollywood, I guess.
Okay, Schafer. You’ve seen her in Cuckoo, The Hunger Games whatever, and most likely been blown away by her in Euphoria. Somehow, she’s just the perfect fit for Zelda. Just look at the fan art all over. It’s like someone sketched her with those pointy ears before she even got the role. Oh, wait, she hasn’t got it, but let’s pretend she has because insiders say so.
This flick is starting production late 2025. I wonder what they’ll be doing in the meantime. Scouting for fairy dust locations? Booting up some epic CGI fantasy stuff, I bet. But, please, less is more here, guys. Don’t overdo it with the CGI unless you want to turn it into a cartoon.
Daniel Richtman, who’s kind of like the gossip queen of the film world, says Schafer’s being considered. And could this be the first of three? That’s the rumor. As if 20+ games aren’t enough. What’s the plot, you ask? Probably Link saving the day. Again. Yawn. Or maybe they’ll think up something fresh. Hopefully not too fresh because we have trust issues with adaptations, don’t we?
So, that’s Zelda’s world right now. Will it live up to the hype? Flip a coin, because with Hollywood, who really knows?
