Nvidia’s big boss, Jensen Huang, popped up recently chatting about the Nintendo Switch 2. Yep, we’re talking processors that are supposedly all about “performance, intelligence, and beauty.” Sounds fancy, right? So, there’s this new console and Huang made a rare cameo in Nintendo’s “Creator’s Voice” gig to chat specs. You don’t see that often, people getting all techy about Nintendo stuff. But here we are.
Now, where was I… oh right, they shoved this on YouTube. And even though I got kinda lost watching it — let’s be honest, I usually drift when folks start bantering about techy bits — I couldn’t help but soak in some tidbits. Huang’s going on about this chip, saying it’s like, three major leaps forward — think top mobile graphics, hardware ray-tracing, snazzy high dynamic ranges, and magic compatibility stuff for older games.
Nintendo’s squad already yakked about something called DLSS, whatever that means, and Nvidia kept it mostly hush-hush. But mentioned something wild like “10x the graphics of the old Switch.” Sounds like a set-up for a sci-fi blockbuster. Plus, real-time AI doing its thing to make your gaming moments pop? That’s gotta be voodoo magic or something.
Oh, but Digital Foundry had a go, spilling the beans in May. Supposedly this thing’s got some ARM Cortex whatevers, a GPU taking notes from an old Ampere style, and memory that’s doing a 12GB jig on a 128-bit line. Still trying to wrap my head around it. And storage? They pumped in 256GB with wiggle room for 2TB more via a card slot.
Anyway, aside from the tech talk, this clip also paid homage to Satoru Iwata, the Nintendo head honcho who oversaw the Switch’s original journey. Sentimental bit, right there.
So, what’s the price tag, you ask? $449.99 is your ticket to this tech fiesta, or grab a Mario Kart World bundle for $499.99 if you’re feeling fancy. Pre-orders vanished like a chocoholic’s dream, but maybe your local shop might still have a surprise or two for launch day.
And hey, if you’re into getting your news fix, remember to keep a tab on Tom’s Hardware. They’re out there bringing the goods and, who knows, maybe they’ll unravel more tech mysteries soon.
