Nintendo has officially announced that their upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be airing on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The event is expected to last about an hour.

Last month, Nintendo finally lifted the curtain on the Nintendo Switch 2, putting an end to the whirlwind of rumors and speculation that had been swirling around. The announcement came with a brief video that not only gave us a glimpse of the console’s design but also teased a new Mario Kart installment. Excitingly, it was confirmed that the new hardware will support backwards compatibility with games from the original Switch.
Nintendo has elaborated that the Switch 2 will support both physical and digital games from the previous console. However, they did caution that there might be certain titles which won’t be compatible with the new system.
Looking ahead, the Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for a global release sometime in 2025, though an exact date is still under wraps.
