Oh man, Google might be up to something wild with these new smart glasses — they could pop out at that Google I/O thing next week. And hey, maybe they’re gunning for the Ray-Ban Meta style?
So, there was this promo (why do promos always leave you more curious than informed, right?). The big cheese at Android, Sameer Samat, had these glasses on. Didn’t spill the beans directly, though. Classic move. Just said there’d be some cool Android tricks at the event. Like, hint much?
I kinda squinted at a YouTube shot — you know, like playing detective — and these glasses look like those old-school Ray-Ban Wayfarer ones, with just one tiny camera on the left side. Why the left? Who knows.
By the way, there’s a pic floating around, and it’s… well, a picture. Anyway, there’s this little LED above the camera. Makes me wonder if it’s there to warn people they’re being filmed. Flashback to conspiracy theories, anyone?
And check this: the arms are chunky, probably stuffed with batteries and tech. Samat hinted they’re running some Android XR stuff. Just under the left arm? There’s a tiny slit near Samat’s ear. Could be for sound. Or maybe not. Maybe it’s a button. Who even knows at this point.
While we’re at it, Apple’s not sitting idle — word on the street is they’re cooking up their own smart glasses. Apparently, Bloomberg says they’re tweaking a processor just for this. All cloak and dagger, right?
Anyway, back to Google I/O — it’s happening on May 20th-21st. Expecting talks, live streams, all the jazz. Maybe a whisper about Android XR. Two whole talks focused on it, so maybe more than a whisper. Maybe.
I’ll be glued to the screen. But hey, you guys can watch too. The keynote’s live on YouTube Tuesday, May 20th, 10 AM PT. Mark those calendars, folks.
Oh, and you gotta see this clip…
