Bethesda has finally put an end to the speculation surrounding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by confirming its existence. This long-speculated remaster of the beloved Elder Scrolls entry, infamous for its quirky, potato-faced NPCs, is set to be unveiled—possibly with an imminent release—during a planned reveal stream tomorrow, April 22.
Admittedly, we didn’t see this one coming at all. It’s not as if whispers about the remaster started back in 2023, or that a recent leak spilled the beans or let Xbox support drop the release date ahead of time. Nope, none of that happened.
Nevertheless, Bethesda has slated their reveal stream for April 22. You can catch it live right here through the video above when it starts at 4 PM BST, which is 11 AM ET, 8 AM PT, and 5 PM CEST.
Considering the amount of buzz, it’s hard not to suspect that the game might quietly launch during or right after the stream, which Bethesda has teasingly titled ‘All will be revealed….’
We’re on the verge of finding out what the folks at Virtuos Games and Bethesda have done to enhance 2006’s classic, a game known as much for closing creepy portals as for delivering the best Elder Scrolls DLC to date. Yes, I’m talking about Shivering Isles—a statement I stand by wholeheartedly.
But not to worry—you can always dive back into the original if the remaster doesn’t hit the spot. It’s still out there in all its eccentric glory. Plus, if you’re a PC gamer, you have Skyblivion, a massive modding project, that’s in the works to offer another unique spin on Oblivion.
As the project’s lead told us after news of the official remaster surfaced, “This started as a labor of love and continues to be one. I’ve gained far more than expected: friends, skills, and ultimately, a career in gaming.”
