Sure, here it goes!

Okay, so I stumbled upon this new horror game, “End of Abyss,” at the Summer Game Fest 2025. Yeah, I wasn’t even supposed to be there, but you know how the universe conspires sometimes. Anyway, this game is the brainchild of Section 9 Interactive — small team, big dreams kinda thing — and Epic Games. Something about those names just feels like childhood nostalgia, doesn’t it?
Now, they say this game’s a weird cocktail of body horror and eerie exploration with a top-down FPS style. Sounds fancy, right? Early whispers among the crowd were tossing out comparisons to Inside and Little Nightmares. I mean, who doesn’t love a good spine-chiller that creeps up behind you when you least expect it?
Backtracking a bit — or maybe not — the brains behind this game are these veteran devs from Little Nightmares and a bunch of other memorable titles. They’ve mashed up sci-fi horror with, let’s say, a dash of “unexpected twists” and threw it on stage during the main showcase. Guess it works, ’cause here I am, babbling about it.
The trailer — oh boy, the chills! You play as Cel, this young combat tech, piecing together the mysteries of a lost facility. Monsters, dark corners, high stakes, you get the gist. But what kept me hooked was this bizarre feel of “everything’s wrong.” Like, you’re in it deep without a map, pushing yourself to your limits just to cling to life. Relatable, much? Maybe not the monstrous creatures part, but you catch my drift.
Release plans are all set for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S next year. Cue the excitement – or fear – maybe both! The game’s supposed to have upgradable gear, which sounds like leveling up in life, except scarier.
Interestingly, fans are buzzing, drawing lines between End of Abyss and other games like Inside. Fresh angles, new stories, but with a sprinkle of nostalgia perhaps. Makes you wonder how much adventure there really is behind those branching paths.
And, side note, horror games? Yeah, they’ve been nailing it recently. From the Silent Hill remakes to these little gems popping up, it’s a great time to live in this eerie, yet captivating, world of horror gaming. Oh, before I forget, they’ve opened up wishlists on Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store. Go, wishlist it, if you dare. Or don’t. Whatever floats your boat!
So that’s the chaos from my side. Can’t wait to let this game haunt my dreams. Or my console. Probably both.
