Oh man, where do I begin with this one? So, picture this: a livestream’s buzzing away, and, outta nowhere, nDreams Elevation drops this wild teaser for Reach. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that wild, but hey — VR parkour and giant baddies sound cool, right?
Here’s the kicker: Reach is this fresh ticket from nDreams Elevation, which sorta just landed on the scene in 2022. They’re hyping it up as their biggest deal ever. Ambitious title and all. But, who’s counting?
Now imagine strapping on a VR headset and diving into a crazy parkour world. Yep, that’s Reach. Apparently, it’s dropping on all VR headsets soon, and — surprise — some upcoming ones too. The game’s all about zipping around and facing these mythical threats. Whatever that means. But the combat moves? They’re supposedly unique and stuff you’d only pull off in VR. Makes you wonder if it’s gonna feel as cool as it sounds.
Watching the trailer, I couldn’t help but think — did I just see the lovechild of Fracked and Synapse? If you didn’t catch those, no worries. Just think chaos and finesse. Or maybe neither. Eh.
Anyway — wait, no, that’s not where I was going with this. Right, tools. Yeah, players get to “master” tools and tweak their paths through this dynamic world. Sounds kinda like, well, mess with the world and the world changes your adventure. Or does it? Beats me. More details are supposed to drop at some VR Developer Direct show on June 10th.
And get this: Shuhei Yoshida, or just Shu, was presenting the whole thing. This guy used to be the big boss at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios. Like, talk about a stamp of approval. He seems jazzed about Reach, too, blabbing on about immersion and creativity. Typical promotion stuff, but I guess it means something coming from him.
Glenn Brace, the head honcho at nDreams Elevation? He’s equally hyped, going on about creating a game where players feel all powerful and present. Makes you wonder if it’s really that groundbreaking, or just another VR spin. Who knows?
Oh, and if you’re curious, Reach is up for wishlisting. Hit up the Horizon Store for Quest, PlayStation Store for PSVR 2, and Steam if you’ve got a PC VR headset. Go on, take a whimsically chaotic ride and see if it’s your kinda thing.
