Whoa, okay, so here’s the thing. Cold VR — have you heard about this? — it’s like a spiritual twin or cousin or, I dunno, to Superhot VR. They’re doing this big shake-up with a new version called Sub-Zero Edition. I mean, the name itself sounds cold as ice, right? Anyway, you’ve got this mind-bending time thing where, instead of speeding up with movement, time actually slows down. Which is wild ‘cause — think about it — you gotta hustle before the baddies surround you.
So, they kicked this off back in February, I think, and now we’re looking at a pretty chunky update dropping on June 2nd. Five fresh levels for Quest and PC VR? Yeah, that’s right. Count ‘em, five. Love a good upgrade that doesn’t half-bake it.
Ah, but get this, ALLWARE, the devs — wonder how many cups of coffee they down on the daily — are rolling out a new main campaign. Apparently, the enemies’ AI is getting a brain boost. Maybe they’ll outsmart me now. They’re tweaking old stages, so… change is in the air or something. Those elusive Backroom levels? Now optional, thank goodness.
What else? Oh yeah, a main menu overhaul — finally, right? — so we can jump in quicker. And isn’t it annoying when menus feel like a maze?
Also, there’s this cool weapon-catching thing coming up, and some spruced-up visuals. Plus, room-scale motion support — which sounds fancy, but could mean dodging furniture in the living room. And those bHaptics vests? Oh, they’re setting us up for full-on immersion. One step closer to living in the Matrix.
PSVR 2 version’s still a promise on the horizon. No clue when, but they’re saying soon. Meanwhile, Cold VR’s hanging out on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and on Steam — twenty bucks, if you’re curious.
Anyway, that’s the lowdown. How’d I get so wrapped up in this? Oh, right, virtual reality is absolutely bonkers.
