Oh boy, so it’s Wednesday, folks. At least that’s when I’m jotting this down, and guess what? PlayStation has some fresh meat—uh, I mean a new studio that’s all shiny and full of promise. Imagine Sony as this excited, slightly overbearing parent showing off their new kid. Yeah, that’s the vibe. Anyway, this new gang—teamLFG—is all about that multiplayer life and some oddball “frog-type games.” Whatever that means, right?
Hermen Hulst, who’s kinda like the big boss over there at Sony Interactive Entertainment, is introducing this new crew with the sort of enthusiasm that makes you wonder if your own parents ever felt that proud. But hey, let’s not make this awkward. Imagine the whole live-service gaming ocean… deep, kinda intimidating—and teamLFG better swim like champs or sink. No pressure.
Anyway, so teamLFG—stands for “Looking For Group”—not the cheeky phrase you might’ve been imagining. Based outta Bellevue, Washington, these folks are a mix of fresh blood and veterans who’ve been part of some big names like Destiny, Halo, and League of Legends. They’re kinda Bungie’s offspring, trying to stretch their legs, you know?
They’re all about action-y, responsive gameplay and those virtual worlds that feel like a second home. Their pitch? Games where you find buddies and build a community. Sounds wholesome, right? Basically, they’re on the same page with this live-service trend PlayStation’s been all in on. Their first brainchild is this action-y team game, pulling vibes from all sorts of places—fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and yep, those mysterious frog-type gigs. They’re teasing us with a new mythic sci-fi world that’s supposed to be both lighthearted and funny. Sign me up for curiosity, at least.
Now, frog-type games? I mean, what’s that even? Not your average Frogger, I suppose. More like, games with frog vibes? It’s like trying to nail Jell-O to a wall. I’m picturing some mash-up where Tekken, Mario, Dota, and maybe some mid-2000s Crazy Frog nonsense collide in this wild gaming stew. Sounds insane, right? Or just brilliant?
Well, teamLFG really seems into the idea of testing the waters early, letting us dabble in what they’re cooking up. They’re after feedback, and hey, community input might just shape what this turns out to be.
So, what do you think? Is PlayStation going all in on some Crazy Frog meets Overwatch/Fortnite whatever deal? Are you as curious as I am about what these folks are dreaming up? Hit me up with your thoughts.
