Hey, so guess what popped up on my radar? Turns out Samsung might be gearing up to blow our minds with a massive investment in the good ol’ US of A. Weird, right? I mean, especially since Trump spilled the beans while chatting about trade stuff with South Korea.
Samsung’s Big Plans Stateside? Could Be Huge.
So here’s the thing. The Trump team is busy hammering out trade deals with places like India, Japan, and yep, South Korea too. And part of that, apparently, is all about getting these big foreign companies to plunk down some serious cash in the US. Like, remember when Apple, TSMC, SoftBank, and others were suddenly all about those billion-dollar plans here? Samsung’s looking like the next on the list. This Korean paper, The Korea Herald, mentioned Trump’s pretty sure a deal with Samsung is on the horizon.
“I heard Samsung’s gonna, thanks to tariffs, build big ol’ facilities over here. Without tariffs, wouldn’t be happening,” he kind of hinted. Even though he didn’t name-drop Samsung, he’s acting like it’s a done deal.
Anyway, seems like if you want some love from the Trump camp, you gotta pony up for big investments. Samsung’s next? Maybe. They’ve been eyeing spots in Austin and Texas (yeah, that’s really a place), promising 10,000 jobs. Plus, there’s this project in Taylor, Texas that’s working its magic until 2027, churning out those snazzy 2nm things or whatever. Something about NVIDIA being all over it, too.
Samsung expanding in Taylor; cutting plans by $8B. Why? Policy and stuff. Go figure.
Oh, and the word is Samsung might shift some of their appliances and TV making elsewhere. Tariff deals got that covered, maybe? Who even knows these days. Anyway — nope, backtrack — once Trump wraps up trade talk with Korea, we might hear more on this. Maybe next week? Stay tuned. Or not. Up to you.
